‘The Eid Engagement and Other Weddings’ by Iqra Asad was very interesting this time (11 November issue). I am glad to see that Hina is not a blushing bride, too timid to speak for herself! Plus, things were happening in this episode, and it was not just shopping and dialogues.

I was happy to see ‘The Green Room’ in this week’s edition of the magazine. I want to request Sameen to please include in-depth movie reviews of the old Hollywood classics. I must say I enjoy the celeb interviews a lot. I am impressed by the new crop of our young actors who are doing great work. I wonder why you don’t start a section on TV dramas. Our dramas are so good that they have a great audience in our neighbouring country, too. Just a suggestion! Keep up the good work!

I am a budding poet and I enjoy the ‘Poets’ Corner’ a lot. I have realized that this section is no more a regular weekly feature, which is very disappointing. I also miss the poems of some of the regular poets who now contribute very infrequently. The new poets are all right, and they need a regular platform for their poems, but some of them are not good. If you have noticed, I have named no names, because I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but can’t help thinking that old is indeed gold.

While Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) was sitting in the mosque with some people, three men came. Two of them came in front of Allah’s Apostle and the third one went away. The two persons kept on standing before Allah’s Apostle for a while and then one of them found a place in the circle and sat there while the other sat behind the gathering, and the third one went away. When Allah’s Apostle finished his preaching, he said, ‘Shall I tell you about these three persons? One of them be-took himself to Allah, so Allah took him into His grace and mercy and accommodated him, the second felt shy from Allah, so Allah sheltered Him in His mercy (and did not punish him), while the third turned his face from Allah and went away, so Allah turned His face from him likewise.’
