Having represented Pakistan in Berlin as well as co-founded Sine Valley Festival in Nepal and releasing music under the alias Alien Panda Jury (APJ), Daniel. A. Panjwaneey, 32, has made his Thailand debut, repping Pakistan.
The electronic music producer, who was selected for the 2017 edition of Border Movement Residency in Berlin, played a live set in Bangkok at an event called Soundistan x Tun Ten earlier this month at The Safe Room. The event also featured other artists from other spaces such as one from Switzerland.
According to the Soundistan creator, Sameer Arshad, who said in an interview: “The event is a direct representation of what our core brand is about, which is to encourage more connection, awareness and collaboration between the underground and alternative music and arts scene in Asia.”
Living up to its mission, a second public Soundistan event is happening next month - October 6 at The Safe Room - that will feature Bilal Nasir Khan, more commonly known as Rudoh. He is the co-founder of electronic music collective, Forever South, and is scheduled to take the stage with artists from not just Thailand and other spaces but particularly India. Titled ‘Welcome to Soundistan [4] Special Edition’, it will also feature short films from India and Pakistan.
As for APJ, as co-founder of Sine Valley, he has promised that a third edition is in the pipeline. He also has an album scheduled to release this year.
