Featuring Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed and Adeel Hashmi in lead roles, the Bachaana trailer had people hooked from the get go. The soundtrack, released yesterday in the film’s second promotional belt, piqued everyone’s interest a bit more. Fans that had turned up for the music launch at Hardees – a tad bit inappropriate as a venue (we were reassured that Hardees doesn’t have a lead role in the film though!) - got a little dose of the musical score of the film, adding to its pre-hype. Jam-packed and buzzing with eager faces, the full house was soon rocking and rolling to the sound of music.
Bachaana’s soundtrack features three original songs, including ‘Yaari’, ‘Koi Labda’ and ‘Bachaana,’ which is the title track. There is also a mashup of two of these songs, which the director claims to be the first of its kind put together by the renowned Bollywood DJ, Kiran Kamath. The music of the film has been composed by Ali Sher.
“You will love the background music score,” Ali Sher spoke to Instep during the event. “I enjoy the work of international composers like Hanz Zimmer, Pink Floyd, RD Burman and AR Rahman from India, however the list of Pakistani favourites is endless. My work is a mélange of what I have heard over the years.”
‘Yaari’ composed by Prasad Sashte from across the border and sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali resonates throughout the film. Shafqat’s profound voice has given it a melodramatic feel and Shakeel Sohail has penned the infectious lyrics of this track. ‘Yaari’ and the Bachaana title track, sung by Bollywood singer Benny Dayal and Komal Ghazanfar from Pakistan, was the second song that serenaded guests throughout the event.
Over to the film itself, Bachaana appears to be fast-paced and edgy, which should keep cinegoers glued to their seats. It also flaunts the talented Mohib Mirza, who already has critically acclaimed films such as Seedlings, Dukhtar and Josh in his kitty. The tall and talented Sanam Saeed, who is known to be opinionated when it comes to choosing her projects, seems to be making a promising debut. And they are the strongest link in Bachaana, evident in the excitement as they walked in for the music launch.
Mohib Mirza, while talking to the media, said that the response of the trailer was beyond his expectations. “It did extraordinarily well on Twitter in the first 24-hours. I got a feeler that this film is going to do well and I guarantee you that it’s an entertainer. All my previous films were message oriented and centered on serious topics so I find this as a refreshing break with a commercial angle. We were so fully rehearsed and prepared that we hardly used the script on the sets,” he revealed.
Leading lady Sanam Saeed thought that the transition from dramas to films was not an easy one for her. “It was difficult to comprehend the difference between a drama serial and big screen, which boils down to factors such as body language, expressions and emotions and you have to enhance all these otherwise it is of no use. I think that this a filmi commercial film that I have never done before and took it up as a challenge.”
Sharing behind the scenes experiences, director Nasir Khan - captain of the ship - commended the preparation of the artists, who were able to wind up the filming in a record number of days.
“The film was completed in a month’s time and the end result was worth the wait and effort,” he said. “Perfection doesn’t come to me easily and I am the best critic of my own work and I believe that all the hard work has definitely paid off.”
While talking about the new wave in local cinema he said, “It is an internal satisfaction to be a part of this film movement. We want you to support cinema and support Pakistani films. Criticize the film but do support Pakistani films,” he concluded.
Bachaana is scheduled for a nationwide release on February 26, 2016. We’re confident that this fast paced, cheesy romance will attract the crowds next month!
