His skillful acting and craft will continue in 2016 with X-Men: Apocalypse and Assassin’s Creed
2015 is a banner year for Michael Fassbender who starred in several curious films like Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs in the titular role, and in and as Macbeth (opposite Marion Cotillard). And as the year comes to a close, the actor is set to reap the benefits of his good work.
The New Year will begin with an award from the 27th edition of the Palm Springs International Film Festival. For his memorable performances in films like Prometheus, 12 Years a Slave, A Dangerous Method among others, Fassbender will be presented with the trophy for the International Star Award at a star-studded award ceremony, set to take place on January 2.
As for films, his career graph in 2016 will surely grow with big films like the mutant series X-men as well as a film adaptation of one of the world’s most popular fantasy game.
For the actor, who made his big screen debut with 300, the role of Magneto is one that has put him on the global acting map as the film and the comics are followed worldwide.
In 2016, the actor will return as complex mutant Magneto in the mutant saga.
In X-Men: Apocalypse, Fassbender’s Magneto is invited by Apocalypse (played by Oscar Isaac) is to be one of his Four Horsemen. As his powers grow, the story turns darker. With new mutants set to join the cast which also includes James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, the film will be one of next year’s major releases.
In an earlier interview to Entertainment Weekly, Bryan singer, director of this epic mutant saga revealed: “One of Apocalypse’s many powers is he can imbue other mutants with greater ones. Magneto is demonstrating a small taste of what he can do now. Magneto is already enormously powerful…. Now Apocalypse gives him powers far beyond what we’ve seen before.”
The other big project starring Michael Fassbender is the adaptation of the video game, Assassin’s Creed. NME reports: The eight-year-old franchise, which has sold well over 70m games, focuses on the centuries-long battle between two factions – the Templars and the Assassins. The video game adaptation focuses on an equivalent of the game’s main protagonist, Desmond Miles, named Callum Lynch. It also features his 15th century Spanish ancestor, Aguilar. Both Lynch and Aguilar are played by Fassbender.”
Given the fact that video game has sold over 70 million copies worldwide, Fassbender’s film is bound to generate hysteria among video games fans. How the film does will depend on how accurate and acceptable the film adaptation is. It can go either way but rest assured, the spotlight will be on Fassbender.
