Before murder mysteries, detective and forensic investigation shows became all the rage on American television, shows like Friends and Smallville enjoyed a far-ranging fan following.
While Friends spinned its magic as a comedy, Smallville brought Superman to the small screen. And after ten years, Tom Welling’s Clark Kent/Superman party came to an end. Since then, the once-famous heartthrob of television was nowhere to be seen… until now.
TVLine is reporting that the actor is staging a return to television with a CBS project that he will produce and headline.
“The one-time Clark Kent has found his first post-Smallville TV project in Section 13, a drama series in development at CBS that he will topline and produce.”
Of course, how this comeback goes depends on how good the script is and several other factors. But given CBS’ penchant to produce shows that last, like the Good Wife, Elementary and the severely underrated Person of Interest, Tom Welling has a decent chance of surviving past the pilot.
