* Is a middle child; has an older brother, Carl, and younger brother, Ben.
* Was inspired by the movie Back to the Future (1985) to play the guitar; took up the instrument in his early teens.
* Enrolled in Berklee College of Music in 1997, but left after two semesters to form the two-man band LoFi Masters with his college friend Clay Cook, before embarking on a solo career.
