Pakistani band Mizmaar seems to be making up for lost time. After a hiatus of a few years, guitarist Kashan Admani and drummer Alfred D’mello are back with a bang. Their comeback single “Jee Loonga” has been well-received by fans and the band put up an energetic live performance at the recently held “I Am Karachi” Festival. Now, it’s been announced that their next venture will be a collaborative number with Euphoria from across the border, known for its unique sound (remember the soulful “Maaeri”?)
The single is slated for release this Independence Day, adding to the list of interesting entertainment options that are already expected to debut on August 14th. Speaking about the single, Mizmaar frontman Kashan Asmani had the following to say: “This song is an Indo-Pak peace collaboration and we are featuring India’s biggest rock band Euphoria’s lead singer Dr. Palash Sen on this song. We hope that this effort known as one of the pioneers of fusion/pop music in South Asia will promote peace and harmony between the two countries especially on the occasion of independence celebrations in both countries”.
The short clip for the video on the band’s official Facebook page offers a melodious teaser and we’re looking forward to hearing the song in full.
Salman Khan thanks Edhi for looking after lost Indian girl
Bollywood films are known for being OTT and somewhat disengaged from real life. But Bajrangi Bhaijaan seems inadvertently to be a case of reel life mirroring real life. In the film Salman Khan plays an Indian man trying to reunite a mute Pakistani girl with her family and the star has recently expressed a desire to meet the real life deaf and mute Indian girl Geeta, who has been living in Pakistan for 15 years.
Salman thanked the Edhi Foundation for taking care of her all this time, saying, ““We should thank the NGO in Pakistan for supporting her and giving her a good life. We should respect the fact that they have kept an Indian there for such a long time. She must be having her own family and friends there. We should make sure her life out here is a lot better than it was there.”
The star further expressed delight at the fact that his movie had helped to shed light onto Geeta’s case and bring it into the spotlight. The girl is thought to have strayed into Pakistani territory from across the border 15 years ago and the Edhi Foundation has tried its best to locate her family in India. With the involvement of politicians and social activists in both countries as well as Bollywood stars in the case now, it seems Geeta might finally be able to make her way back home.
David Bechkam defends parenting decision
David Beckham attempted to score a goal for parents across the world this week, striking back against critics of his child-rearing decisions. Specifically, letting his four-year-old daughter use a pacifier. The footballer was recently slammed by a UK newspaper for letting his daughter, Harper, use a pacifier at age 4. “Experts warn David and Victoria Beckham’s little girl may end up with ‘speech or dental issues’ if she continues to use one,” warned the publication.
David Beckham didn’t brush off the criticism lightly and took to social media to retaliate: “Why do people feel they have the right to criticize a parent about their own children without having any facts?” the 40-year-old wrote. “Everybody who has children knows that when they aren’t feeling well or have a fever you do what comforts them best and most of the time it’s a pacifier. Do those who criticize think twice about what you say about other people’s children because actually you have no right to criticize me as a parent.”
In this day and age where a celebrity’s every move is publicized and scrutinized and used as fodder for baseless news, we can’t help but agree with Beckham on this one.
