Surf the net and you will come across various online shopping websites where you can shop from without wasting a lot of time and energy. And with fashion reaching the online stores, online shopping is gaining popularity especially among women. Now you don’t have to run around the malls and markets to find the perfect dress, shoes, accessories etc. All you have to do is click on the item you want and it will be delivered to you at your doorstep.
Taking the online fashion to a completely different level, Daraz.pk recently launched Daraz Fashion Week (DFW), the first ever online fashion show in Pakistan, which was made live for the public on the 13th, 14th and 15th of June on Daraz.pk.
For those who don’t know, it is an online shopping portal featuring apparel, accessories, shoes and beauty products for men and women, as well as a wide variety of electronics and general merchandise.
Through this fashion week, the leading online retailer aspired to represent the high-street fashion industry and provide the fraternity an online platform to grow. This fashion week was Pakistan’s first ever shop-able online event that gathered the top fashion retailers, including Sana Safinaz, Gul Ahmed, Al-Karam Studios, Generation and Amir Adnan, to name a few, to launch their latest summer collections.
During the fashion the week supermodels including Nadia Hussain, Sana Sarfaraz, and Abeer Rizvi walked the ramp showcasing outfits by the designers and brands. The hair and makeup was done by the team at Sabs salon which gelled well with the over all look. Daraz Fashion Week was basically an initiative to bridge the gap between the masses and the dynamic fashion industry, making the attires, displayed on the ramp, accessible to people from every nook and corner of the country.
At the event, Farees Shah, cofounder of the website said, “We are extremely excited to be the first ones to host an online fashion week in Pakistan which means, for the first time, customers can view a product on the ramp and buy it online immediately. This 3-day online event reflects the website’s continuous endeavour to promote fashion in all parts of the country - a woman sitting in Chichawatni will have access to the same fashion trends as a woman sitting in Karachi, which is an absolutely incredible achievement.”
The show proved to be a unique one not only because of its online presence but also because it provided a glimpse of how a fashion shoot is generally carried out, unlike other fashion shows. Though it was a small-scale event, it managed to add a distinct feature to the online fashion world.
