The outbreak of coronavirus has resulted in major losses to almost all industries worldwide. There is so much uncertainty in the world and no one can predict how long it will take for things to sort themselves out, if they ever do.
The entertainment industry is no exception, with all major productions halted and movie release dates postponed. Artists in Pakistan have also stopped shooting for their upcoming projects, including music releases and dramas as well as films.
However, all is not lost; there are a few productions that were shot prior to the outbreak of coronavirus and will soon be seen on the small screen. Instep lists down four of them…
Dil Ruba
Hania Aamir-starrer upcoming drama serial, Dil Ruba is scheduled to hit TV screens later this week, on March 28. The teasers have been out for a while and the narrative hints at subjects not typically seen on Pakistani television. The central character, essayed by Hania, builds close ties with multiple men at once, leaving them wondering if she is interested in any of them. She does it for fun, but doesn’t realize the consequences when, in the longer run, all of the men start to believe that she will marry them. She not only breaks their hearts but also shatters their respect and trust - even in the eyes of her family. Also cast in Dilruba are Moheb Mirza, Nabeel Zuberi, Shahroz Sabzwari and Syed Jibran with Marina Khan essaying Hania’s mother. Written by Qaisera Hayat, it is directed by Ali Hasan.
Meherposh
One of the most anticipated drama serials, Meherposh, brings back real life couple Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor together on the small screen after four years. By the looks of it, it is a love story but there is a major tragedy that forms the essence of the story. Living in the same vicinity, Danish falls in love with Ayeza, who is married off to someone else but is divorced on the night of the wedding. Meherposh highlights how society looks at a woman who is divorced within a day of her marriage. The belief is that there must be something wrong with her. Directed by Mazhar Moin, the upcoming drama is produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment and is expected to air very soon.
Sabaat
With Mawra Hocane starrer Daasi nearing its end in the coming weeks, the actress will be headlining upcoming drama serial, Sabaat that features newcomer Ameer Gilani opposite her. Starring as Anaya, Mawra is playing a college student who raises her voice against harassment and urges others to do the same. There is another track in the drama, featuring actor Usman Mukhtar and the incredibly talented Sara Khan. Collectively, they will add an interesting angle to the narrative. The OST, beautifully sung by Ali Sethi, is making waves already while the drama is helmed by the acclaimed Shahzad Kashmiri.
Raz-e-Ulfat
Yumna Zaidi, Shehzad Sheikh and Gohar Rasheed’s upcoming drama serial, Raz e Ulfat, directed by Siraj ul Haque, also released its teasers recently. Yumna essays the role of Mushk, a “grey” character, according to the actress, that is neither too submissive nor very sharp. She comes from a very conservative family but has a desire to study and progress in life, despite her father’s disapproval. There is a love sequence too, between her and the character essayed by Shehzad, according to one of the teasers. We haven’t been introduced to the character of Gohar Rasheed just yet, which adds an element of surprise. Produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, Raz e Ulfat will go on-air in the coming weeks.
