There is no dearth of love songs and yet there is always room for more. Love makes the world go round and is the answer to hate.
Though Valentine’s Day is not an official holiday in Pakistan, tweens – more than anyone – often celebrate it with a lot of vigour. Given the season, artists also come out with love-tinged songs. Shamoon Ismail and Sajjad Ali have released songs about this universal emotion in recent days.
Singer-songwriter Abdullah Qureshi, one of the most popular stars emerging with hits like ‘Laapata’, ‘Aaja’, and ‘Kali Santro’ to his credit, has now joined them.
After impressing one and all with ‘Laapata’ in particular, Abdullah has released ‘Baat Adhuri’ with a music video and unabashedly claims that the song caters to the Valentine season. Driven by piano as it opens, the single is a mellow story of complicated, perhaps broken relationships. Sitting with a guitar, Abdullah sings about moments when nothing makes sense except a certain person, and an unsuccessful love narrative. Plenty of those out there as well, we think.
In the music video, directed by Saad Hashmi, we see Abdullah indulging in daily chores, playing various instruments from electric guitars to a beautiful piano and singing in front of a mic with the feeling that occurs when a beloved isn’t there.
Abdullah Qureshi has opened 2020 on a strong note with the gentle ‘Baat Adhuri’. Since releasing the single on Valentine’s Day, the song has picked up 25,000 hits on YouTube. For all the romantics out there and fans of partially acoustic mellow music, this is the song for you.
