2020 is beginning to look like the year of Shamoon Ismail. At the end of last year, he played the multiple-artists show, Super Salt 2019 in Karachi; he emerged as the most popular new artist.
His massive following beyond Islamabad - which he calls home - became obvious as gaggle of girls surrounded the stage and sang his set with him.
But Shamoon Ismail’s greatest strength now is how quickly he is unveiling new music. After releasing two EPs in 2019 - Magic followed by Brown Sugar - he’s releasing more music. He’s also developing into a decent performer.
In the New Year, Shamoon Ismail has released a new single called ‘Rung’ and his part-ambient, part-Jutt Blues soundscape is getting stronger with each release. His mix of Punjabi, Urdu and English is a lovely effort.
The singer-songwriter and music producer is also gearing up to play a show in Karachi again; opening for the iconic Strings. Presented by Salt Arts, the show is scheduled to take place on February 22 at the Beach Luxury Hotel. For more information on the show, head to Salt Arts Instagram page.
