Filmmaking duo, Nabeel Qureshi and Fizza Ali Meerza’s last film, Load Wedding, a social satire featuring Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa in lead roles, released across Pakistan in 2018. While the film didn’t do too well at the local box office, it received fantastic reviews from critics.

The film, which tackled themes of marriage and what it often entails including the archaic yet ubiquitous tradition of dowry, has recently won two awards: Best Foreign Film and Best Cinematography - at the Gold Movie Awards, held in London.

The Gold Movie Awards is a monthly festival with yearly live screening in London that awards the best movies from all around the globe.

“We strongly believe that every movie is the result of hard work and, as such, they deserve our jury’s full attention during the evaluation and the best works deserve our acknowledgement and appreciation,” states Gold Movie Awards’ official website.

In the past, the social satire that stars Faiza Hasan and Samina Ahmed in important roles besides Hayat and Mustafa, has won international awards including the Special Jury Award for Best International Feature Film at the fifth Rajasthan International Film Festival (2019) as well as the London Independent Film Awards (2019) where it bagged the Best Foreign Feature award.
