Riz Ahmed seems to have a lot on his plate post The Night Of. Ahmed, who picked up standing ovation from critics almost everywhere for his role in the drama, Sound of Metal, is on a roll.
He is writing the “saga about a British Pakistani family over 40 of the most eventful years of recent British history, from 1979 to 2019” noted Ahmed, for whom BBC is selling the series internationally.
Called Englistan, it will be about “identity, hope, belonging, and universal themes like family and looking for love.”
While that project continues on the side, Riz Ahmed is said to star in and as Hamlet for a Netflix production and most recently has joined the roster of Assassin’s Creed Gold podcast.
SyFy reported: “Adding onto an original roster featuring genre legends like The X-Files, Stan Lee, and even David Hasselhoff, Audible is heading into the world of video games for its next star-studded project. After Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and Jeremy Irons took Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise to the big screen, now the ideological war is set to hit the airwaves.”
According to Audible, Assassin’s Creed Gold will be an original audio drama and over the course of eight episodes, Riz Ahmed (Venom, The Night Of), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Danny Wallace (Assassin’s Creed Syndicate), and Tamara Lawrence (No Offence) “will bring their adventurous tale of murder and politics straight into the brains of fans.”
Podcasts can be an interesting experience and this one sounds like a particularly interesting one. Can the podcast do what the film couldn’t? Be a success. Only time will tell.
