In ‘Sik Mitraan’, Saakin has found another hit, one that they say goes in a certain part of the film helping the narrative move forward while keeping the Saakin identity alive.
Known for the breakthrough single ‘Saki-E-Bawafa’ that made year end lists and won the band an award, getting the opportunity to do a soundtrack so early in their career is a precious moment. But as with all Saakin fans, we too wonder what is coming next after ‘Sik Mitraan’ which was mixed and mastered by drummer/co-producer Ibrahim Akram.
Noted Usman Shakeel, “Basically, in the film, there are two songs and six soundtracks in total. Two songs have vocals; one is the title track for Zindagi Tamasha and the other is ‘Sik Mitraan’.”
He continued: “The other vocal track is not in our voice; it has female vocals and it is a co-creation between the person who has sung it and Saakin,” he revealed.
“The rest of the OST, a lot of the work is by Varqa Faraid and Shamsher Rana; those are movie soundtracks and we’re planning to compile all the soundtracks and release an album with the movie release.”
As for Saakin’s future beyond the film, Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha, Usman Shakeel noted, “Saakin is coming up with an original track and we’re planning to release it in January. It’s going to be a little surprise because it has a completely different style and concept of music.
“Since the first track, people assumed that it is a Sufi Rock band but how can it be one without electric guitars? But I myself don’t understand what Sufi rock is.
“People will have a better idea about whether we are following a particular genre or whether we are putting out our sound and expertise because right now our first album is developing our basis about what kind of music we have been following and what is our style of music. We are exploring it ourselves. So, there’s going to be a really nice surprise for a listener that’s coming.”
