The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, who has been in the news since her marriage to Prince Harry, has been named 2019’s Most Powerful Fashion Icon in Lyst’s Year in Fashion report.

Meghan Markle, who welcomed her first child Archie, with her husband Prince Harry earlier this year, has climbed the ranks of the Lyst Index, replacing make-up mogul Kylie Jenner.

The annual fashion report, which analyses data collected throughout the year to reveal the biggest trends and fashion stars, revealed that the former Suits actress has sparked a 216 per cent increase in searches for similar items to those that she has worn.

According to Lyst’s Year in Fashion report, when the new mother donned five different shirt dresses for her and Prince Harry’s Royal tour of Africa in September, the fashion category grew by 45 per cent in total.

“Her Club Monaco dress sold out in less than 24 hours, following a 570 per cent spike in searches and wearing a J Crew skirt saw a 102 per cent increase in searches for the brand,” noted the report.

Last year, the Duchess of Sussex was in third place, but she’s upped her game this year and is the only member of the royal family to feature in the top ten - the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton comes in at number 11.

Apart from Meghan Markle, actor Timothee Chalamet has bagged the second spot and is named as the most influential man when it comes to Hollywood style. Zendaya, Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Lisa from Blackpink, Kylie Jenner, Lizzo, Harry Styles and Billy Porter complete the list of top 10 most powerful dressers.
