Delivering on its word, Pepsi is releasing music videos with the top bands to emerge out of Pepsi Battle of the Bands (PBOTB) since its resurrection in 2017.

Approximately 7 to 8 music videos will be released every week. It began with ESharp’s colourful ‘Anthem of Shabana’, which was sponsored by Pepsi, confirmed vocalist and front-man Ahmed Zawar.

The next one to release is ‘Parwana Hun’ by Kashmir – the band that won PBOTB in its second season and performed the song in the grand finale episode; it will also feature on their album.

With Kashmir, the songs can be light or dark or somewhere in between; speaking often for the disenfranchised and the hopeless that most can’t put into words, the song is excellent. And Kashmir has added new lyrics to the song alongside the original, showcasing just how innovative they can be.

As for the music video, directed by Ashar Khalid, it is interspersed with the band performing in what appears to be barren, beautiful land (possibly Balochistan) with no soul in sight while a story is running parallel to the performance that echoes both the struggle of humanity and the anger that comes with it and the oblivion we live in.

Speaking about the decision to release the music video of ‘Parwana Hun’ and not another Kashmir song (they have a roster of songs), Bilal Ali, singer-songwriter from the group told Instep, “We are making videos for most of the songs from the first album and we thought it was time to release this as a lot of people had been asking for it after our grand finale, but it took me awhile to write the last part so we were delaying the studio version.”

Kashmir is also shooting another music video so watch out! An album is also on the horizon.
