As we reported earlier, Pepsi is set to unveil a series of videos, with some reporting the number to be 7 while others noting it will be 8 videos. At least two of those music videos will be featuring ESharp – as they confirmed to Instep. ‘The Anthem of Shabana’ is releasing in November while a second song will be released in December.
Other bands to get music videos include the more popular acts that have emerged from Pepsi Battle of the Bands since its resurrection in 2017.
Among them are winners of the 2017 season Kashmir, the very popular Karachi-based Tamaasha, the Lahore-based finalists of 2018 season Xarb as well as the winning band, Bayaan; the finalists of the 2019 season, Aarish and the winning band of this year, Auj will also be releasing videos.
Pepsi is also backing music videos from ESharp and Blackhour. They plan to unveil one new music video every week.
Though it’s good to see Pepsi fulfill its promise to give bands music videos, it would be even better if non-PBOTB groups get funded as well. Otherwise, no band that is not backed by Pepsi will get lost as sponsored music takes over. After all, Coke Studio is also currently on air though they pushed the release of the third episode on Friday “in solidarity with the families affected by the Tezgam tragedy” and further stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and individuals who were affected by this tragic incident.”
