Another edition of the PIFF (Pakistan International Film Festival) is all set to appear later this month. Usman Riaz, co-founder of Mano Animation Studios and the director of Pakistan’s first hand drawn animated film, an upcoming feature called The Glassworker is taking the opportunity PIFF is to shine a light on Pakistan’s animation industry.

According to Usman, a sneak peak of The Glassworker will be shown as well after both screenings. But that’s not all.

“We are thrilled and honored to bring Studio Ponoc’s beautiful films Mary & The Witch’s Flower and Modest Heroes to Pakistan.”

Usman Riaz told Instep that his friend and mentor, Mr. Geoffrey Wexler, a veteran of Studio Ghibli and Studio Ponoc, will be attending the screenings in Pakistan.

“A panel discussion with Jeff and myself will follow both screenings along with a sneak peak at The Glassworker,” noted Usman.

He added: “We are very excited to be collaborating with the Karachi Film Society on PIFF: Animation 2019.

Local films such as Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor, 3 Bahadur will also get a moment to PIFF showcases animation in 2019.

When Usman Riaz’s work is not being featured in French magazines, he’s leading the conversation on animation and to that we say what a prodigy.
