Sarmad Khoosat’s Zindagi Tamasha (Circus of Life), set for a world premiere at Busan International Film Festival – where Pakistani films like Moor have also been showcased in the past – has been nominated for the Kim Jeosuk Award.

In a statement, BIFF noted about the award, “It is to remember and honor the late Kim Ji-seok who passed away this year after devoting his whole life to discovering young Asian directors and supporting the growth of Asian cinema” adding he “took an essential role to establish BIFF as one of the world’s best film festivals.”

Starring Arif Hassan, Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleman and Ali Kureshi in pivotal roles, the film has been cleared by censors in Pakistan.

According to a recent post on Saba Qamar’s official Facebook handle, Zindagi Tamasha is releasing in Pakistan on January 24, 2020.

“Brace yourselves guys; my favourite human Sarmad Khoosat is coming to the cinemas near you with his film Zindagi Tamasha…The trailer is lit and I am in love with it,” posted Saba, who stars as the female lead in another upcoming film by Sarmad (Kamli).”

The film takes Sarmad Khoosat back to director’s chair after several acting projects and will premiere at BIFF this weekend at different venues in South Korea from 6th to 8th October. Having helmed Manto with beautiful precision as a director, Zindagi Tamasha is the antithesis to cheap comedy films that have been dominating the decade, barring certain exceptions.

Going by the trailer, there is a strong chance the film will take on sensitive, disturbing subjects and reflect on injustices as well as intolerance that this society is drenched in. The trailer showcases the courageous effort made by Sarmad Khoosat and all those attached with this film.

Since the gripping trailer arrived, it has picked up applause from the likes of Fatima Bhutto, Adnan Malik and many more. It even became a trending topic on Twitter.
