The news of Hamza Ali Abbasi and Sajal Aly pairing up for a TV project circulated on social media earlier this year and had fans excited. Reasons being, the two actors are incredibly talented, immensely popular and are sharing screen space for the first time. Titled Alif, their upcoming drama serial created a lot of hype ever since it was announced and, with the recent release of its teasers, we are eager to watch it on our TV screens.

The first teaser that released on Thursday introduced the key characters: Hamza Ali Abbasi as Qalb e Momin, Sajal Aly as Momina Sultan, Ahsan Khan as Taha Abdul Ala, Kubra Khan as Husn e Jahan, Manzar Sehbai as Abdul Ala, Osman Khalid Butt as Faisal and Saleem Mairaj as Sultan.

We know that Ahsan and Kubra are playing Hamza Ali Abbasi’s parents and we will be introduced to them in flashback. Hamza is essaying the role of a renowned filmmaker while Momina is a struggling actor. As per the second teaser, the two apparently have a very different perspective on life that leads to major conflict between them; Qalb e Momin is very liberal, outgoing and flirtatious, and he expects the same from those who work with him while Momina, who comes to audition for his upcoming project, finds it indecent and condemns it.

Written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Haseeb Hassan, Alif claims to introduce viewers to “the most unexpected romance of the year,” as the tagline suggests. Both Hamza and Sajal deliver intriguing performances in the teasers while we are also excited to watch Manzar Sehbai on the small screen.
