For the first time since appearing on Pepsi Battle of the Bands, program judge Fawad Khan has taken a huge musical leap with ‘Uth Jaag’ while keeping some ethos of EP, his finalist band of the first season from the music series – known for their album, Irtiqa – alive.
It was missing last year from Pepsi Battle of the Bands where his world-music-esque effort didn’t seem to do the trick for fans who continue to wait and wonder if Fawad will ever release a single. Known for his movie star avatar more than his musical ambition now, it seems Fawad Khan is finally looking to embrace his musical side after nearly a decade of acting achievements.
Speaking to Instep, when asked if he plans to release more singles, Fawad Khan said, “I guess single by single is what kind of suits me now.”
Answering a question about whether he is planning to release a single, with or without Pepsi soon, Fawad answered, “So this song seems like a step in a new direction. Performed for the first time on Pepsi Battle of the Bands. Haven’t planned for sure whether the future will be more solo songs or not.”
As for what prompted him to go with Xulfi as producer, Fawad Khan shared with Instep, “Xulfi and I share an understanding when it comes to music and lyrical collaboration on material such as ‘Uth Jaag’. I like Jamal [Rahman], Sherry [Khattak], Bilawal [Lahooti] and Abdullah [Siddiqui’s] musical sensibility so the collaboration seemed logical with a lot of musicians networking at Xth Harmonic.”
