By now it’s clear that the music of Parey Hut Love is special, enough to warrant a space in your film soundtrack library. But it is not just the textured music videos that will attract attention; almost each song is good and, according to the director signifies a moment in the film. Same is the case with the Ali Tariq number, ‘Behkna Na’ that is co-sung by Harshdeep Kaur. In one word, the song is beautiful; it uses eastern elements to its strength and Ali Tariq owns the song like a pro.
Music director Azaan Sami Khan zoned in on Ali Tariq to be the playback singer for this particular song after having auditioned a number of singers.
And Ali Tariq, who escalated to fame, after appearing on Nescafe Basement 5 with the song, ‘Mehbooba’ – a Haroon cover – told Instep he couldn’t dream of a better playback singing opportunity.
“I’m lucky I got this opportunity,” he told Instep in an interview. “It’s not that I sang it supremely. It’s more like Azaan Sami Khan has made it so beautifully that whether I sang it or had someone else sung it, the end result would’ve been good. Working with Azaan and Asim bhai, I still remember in the studio, how they guided me on what expression was needed in the recording. Whether its acting or music, emotions matter a lot,” he continued. “Asim bhai and Azaan explained how to begin, the expressions needed at the end and that taught me a lot.”
