Writer-producer Asma Nabeel has penned some beautiful and meaningful scripts for TV plays that have won many hearts.
Some examples include Khaani, Dil Kiya Karey and the most recent Surkh Chandni while her next is called Damsa that will tackle the subject of child trafficking.
She is also gearing up for her directorial debut with a project she has been working on with director Jawad Sharif, who is riding high on the success of Indus Blues.
In addition to these, Asma is currently busy with another upcoming project for which she has collaborated with Beo Zafar, who enthralled viewers in Cake The Film last year.
The writer recently took to social media and shared the project is very close to her heart.
“I feel the strongest when I hold my pen,” she wrote on her Facebook timeline, accompanied with a picture in which she is busy writing. “The feelings in this picture are unexplainable as what I was working on is something that’s closest to my heart. In fact, it is my heart. And the person who took this picture is the strongest person and woman I know and she is the better half of this project of ours. I so want to announce it but I want to keep it close to me as its announcement holds the most special moment of my life too.”
Asma is referring to Beo, who clicked the picture and has joined hands with her for the project. For now, she plans to keep details under wraps but we know something is coming up soon.
Responding to Asma, Beo wrote in the comments’ section, “The emergence and awaited completion of this effort is short of a miracle. Asma you have been seriously a master-craftswoman, I know you attribute the source to me, but in all honesty and humility, this one is your magnum opus.”
In an earlier interview with Instep, Asma, who has fought cancer shared that she plans to write her own story someday. We wonder if this is going to be that story. We will have to wait and see until more details come out. For now, we are sure it is going to be something intriguing, given Asma and Beo’s previous works.
Almost all of Asma’s scripts are socially relevant and her newest play Surkh Chandni - that went on air last month - is no different.
Starring Sohai Ali Abro and Osman Khalid Butt, it follows the story of an acid attack survivor, who fights with conviction (with the support of some loved ones) despite outrage from many others.
