Actor and director Yasir Nawaz is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Wrong No. 2 this Eid ul Fitr.
Aside from directing the film that features Neelam Muneer and Sami Khan in lead roles, Yasir will be acting in it too. When the promotions of the film began last month, some people started questioning the filmmaker on casting himself in his own film and stealing the spotlight from Sami.
Recently, at a meet and greet session during the promotions of Wrong No. 2 in Karachi, Yasir shed light on the subject and shared that he is an actor first and a director later.
“I’m playing a supporting role in the film,” he began, adding that he is senior to Sami. “I started my career as an actor; I was an actor first before I became a director. With time I decided to focus more on acting than direction. I did a drama serial called Dil Mom Ka Diya after a huge gap and it wasn’t directed or produced by me. That means other directors or producers want to cast me even today. I’m not that director and producer who’d invest his money on himself.”
“How much justice have I done to the role, you will find out once you watch the film,” he continued. “I’m doing a character role, one that is presented with all honesty and flaws. It’s an important one just like Sami’s.”
Towards the end, he requested critics to be fair while reviewing his film and the role he has essayed in it. Aside from Neelam, Sami and Yasir, Wrong No. 2 features veteran actors such as Mehmood Aslam, Jawed Sheikh, Shafqat Cheema and others.
