Saqib Malik’s highly anticipated debut feature film, Baaji, which marks Meera Jee’s return to big screen [post cinema revival] is all set to release on June 28, 2019. While the release date was said to be preponed to Eid ul Fitr but the director recently confirmed to Instep that it will release on the original date. According to latest reports, the film will also have an international release and will be distributed by B4U.

Baaji isn’t the first film to be distributed internationally by B4U; other Pakistani films such as Rangreza were also released by the same banner.

Starring Osman Khalid Butt, Amna Ilyas, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Ali Kazmi and others alongside Meera Jee, Baaji is one of the most hyped films to release in 2019. The recently released teaser of the film packs quite a punch, featuring remarkable performances by an ensemble cast.

The film follows the story of a filmmaker (Osman), a fading artist (Meera Jee) and a young woman who dreams big (Amna), aside from other integral tracks. It revolves around themes of stardom, competition, glamor and much more.

Baaji’s trailer is expected to come out around Eid ul Fitr when two locals films are releasing – Wajahat Rauf’s Chhalawa and Yasir Nawaz’s Wrong No 2.

Yumna Zaidi gears up for an Eid telefilm

Winning hearts with diverse roles in ongoing drama serials Dil Kiya Karey and Inkaar, Yumna Zaidi is on a roll. She has intrigued viewers in the recently released teasers of upcoming drama serial Ishq Zah e Naseeb while she is gearing up for another interesting role in an Eid telefilm.

“I’m playing the role of a very liberal and straightforward girl who lives with her father and grandmother (Bebo) as her mother has passed away,” Yumna told Instep in an exclusive conversation. “The two are after her to get married.”

Similarly, the male lead in the project – essayed by Affan Waheed – is also asked to get married by his single-working mother, played by Saman Ansari. This is how the two come in contact. Whether they get married to each other or not, we’ll find out on Eid day one when the telefilm is expected to go on-air.

Coming back to Yumna, the actress can be presently caught in some serious roles in her ongoing plays. Hence, we asked how it feels to work in a fun telefilm.

“Frankly speaking, for a moment I thought to forget how to act as I had very less time to get comfortable with the character. Let’s see how it turns out. Fingers crossed!”

The untitled project was shot in Karachi within five days. Aside from Yumna, it features Affan Waheed, Saman Ansari and Noman Masood in key roles.
