Asim Abbasi’s debut feature film Cake that stars Aamina Sheikh, Sanam Saeed and Adnan Malik in key roles has been making waves ever since its release in Pakistan over a year ago. The film not only had its world premiere in the UK but also represented Pakistan on various international fronts, including the Oscars where it was sent as Pakistan’s official entry under Foreign Language category.
Fortunately, the film has another feather in its cap as it is rumored to have its Netflix premiere later this month. Director of the film, Asim Abbasi shared the news on his Twitter handle. “Just heard a rumour that Cake is coming to Netflix on May 15th.”
Adnan Malik, who essays a key role in the film, also took to Instagram and said, “Rumour has it that Cake will premiere on Netflix on May 15.”
If true, we couldn’t be happier to see Pakistani films reaching to global audiences. Not to forget, Shazia Ali Khan’s Pinky Memsaab is also available on the streaming site and is being received well.
Coming back to Cake, the film has got five nominations at the upcoming Lux Style Awards 2019.
