Instep lists down four plays that will keep you glued to your TV screens during the Holy month.

Last year, Farhan Saeed and Iqra Aziz-starrer Suno Chanda was aired during Ramazan, which generated great reviews and became quite popular with audiences. This year too a number of light-hearted as well as some serious drama serials are scheduled to go on-air during the Holy month.

With just a few days left, intriguing teasers of different drama serials have already been released. Read on as Instep gives you a lowdown on four plays.

Shahrukh ki Saliyan

Written by Dr. Younis Butt and directed by Mazhar Moin, this Ramazan special play stars Ahsan Khan and Ramsha Khan in key roles. Based on comic situations, it is a light-hearted production that has been produced under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment.

Shahrukh ki Saliyan follows the story of a guy who lands himself in weird situations. He falls in love with a girl, essayed by Ramsha Khan, and because she is the youngest sibling, she cannot get married till her sisters don’t find a suitable match. In an earlier interview with Instep, Ahsan Khan shared, “My character is that of a desperate, funny guy who is in a rush and can go to any extent to marry his love interest.”

Shahrukh Ki Saliyan features Jawed Sheikh, Rehan Sheikh, Hina Bayat, Qavi Khan and Saba Faisal apart from Ahsan and Ramsha. The play will air on Geo Entertainment.

Dolly Darling

Starring Aijaz Aslam and Nadia Khan in titular roles, the comedy play has also been penned by Dr. Muhammad Younis Butt and is scheduled to air on Geo Entertainment in Ramazan.

Directed by Iftikhar Iffi, Dolly Darling is a situational comedy play that revolves around a couple, Mustaqeem and Dolly. The wife is a drama queen and an extrovert, while the husband is an introvert. Dolly (essayed by Nadia Khan) is a bubbly character, who goes out of her way to make her husband happy, but somehow things don’t go as planned and all her efforts to become her husband’s darling go in vain.

Apart from Nadia and Aijaz, the play features Uroosa Siddiqui, and Ali Rizvi as supporting cast.

Suno Chanda 2

The popular drama serial is returning to the small screen with its sequel, titled Suno Chanda 2. The upcoming play features singer and actor Farhan Saeed and the versatile Iqra Aziz, who will be reprising their roles as Arsal and Jiya, respectively. The duo was seen arguing and teasing each other in the first season and it seems nothing has changed after their marriage. The teasers for the sequel of the play have been released and by the looks of it, the story will pick up from where it ended. Suno Chanda 2 promises to have new characters with lots of laughter and more of Arsal and Jiya’s bickering.

Directed by Aehsun Talish and written by Saima Akram Chaudhry, the play has an all-star cast including Samina Ahmed, Nadia Afgan, Farhan Ali Agha, Ali Safina, Nabeel Zuberi and many others.

Bhook

The play, which stars veteran actress Maria Wasti in a lead role, is based on a true story. “Directed by Mohsin Ali, Bhook is a five-episode project made especially for Ramazan,” Maria Wasti told Instep in an exclusive interview.

“The play is a true comment that highlights poverty and depicts the harsh reality of our society. On one hand, there are people who are blessed to have food on their tables, most of which is wasted, while on the other, there is a section of our society that is unable to even provide one meal for the family,” she said, adding that this is the reality but we tend to ignore it.

According to the actress, who is currently shooting for the play, it’s a challenging and gritty project. “The story is about a woman who has no option but to take the life of her own kids. You will have to wait till the play goes on air this Ramazan to find out why she takes such a grave step.”

Besides Maria Wasti, Bhook also stars Kamran Jillani and Hina Bayat, among others.
