After essaying a key role Angeline Malik’s Mujhay Jeenay Do that aired in 2017 and tackled the issue of child marriages, veteran actor Nadia Jamil is all set to return to the small screen after almost two years. She will be essaying a prominent role in a socially relevant play called Damsa that will deal with the subject of child trafficking. Written by Asma Nabeel of Khaani fame and directed by Najaf Bilgirami, Damsa is produced by Wajahat Rauf and wife Shazia.
The shoot for the play recently came to an end; it is expected to go on-air in the coming months. “We are making one of the most legendary dramas Pakistan will ever see. So excited!” Jamil tweeted recently, as she requested the channel to allocate a good weekend slot to Damsa.
“Dramas like this can truly make a difference in the world! It’s a beautiful way to talk about the prevention of child trafficking,” she added. Jamil also mentioned that the upcoming play features some incredible actors and a solid crew.
“The issue of child protection is filmed with integrity, from the heart. My twitter family and I would love a weekend slot for this one. Please don’t waste it! It’s truly worth it,” she continued.
A social activist, Jamil has always been very vocal about social issues and continues to raise her voice against evil practices in our society. Damsa will be a worthy addition to our television history and we hope it is able to serve its purpose.
