Rafay Rashdi’s upcoming web-series, titled Baadshah Begum, which is being produced under his own banner – Rafay Rashdi Productions is creating a lot of hype since it was first announced. Written by Saji Gul of O’Rangreza fame, the upcoming series will feature Iman Ali, Imran Ashraf and Gohar Rasheed in key roles.

The recent addition to the cast that is still being finalized is veteran actor Faysal Qureshi who doesn’t need any introduction.

Gearing up for his first film, Sorry – A Love Story, post cinema revival, Qureshi will be playing the antagonist in Baadshah Begum that revolves around themes of sibling rivalry, power and family politics, according to Rafay Rashdi.

Speaking to Instep, Rafay shared, “I recently had the pleasure of discussing the concept with a senior and fine actor Faysal Qureshi, who read the script and has agreed to play the role of the antagonist.”

He also informed that Faysal’s character is related to the family of these siblings and wants the household to crumble and fall at any cost. “He’s only interested in inheriting the ruling lineage of the family; he has a severe dark side, which he doesn’t expose easily,” the producer added.

He continued, “Baadshah Begum focuses on a family trapped within a struggle of power and deals with a bit of violence, which is a prime requirement for the digital hemisphere. As a filmmaker I believe in highlighting ‘issues’ in concepts I produce, and the upcoming series is no different. It deals with women empowerment, male domination, class difference, lack of education and gender inequality, etc.”

Badshah Begum goes on floor by the end of this year and will be released next year. Apart from actors who have signed on for the project, there are four more names that are yet to be disclosed as they are presently reading the script.
