Pakistan’s first superhero film Project Ghazi that stars Humayun Saeed, Sheheryar Munawar and Syra Shahroz is stepping away from a potential box office clash.
The new release date is March 29. It comes after the film was delayed for over a year and just last month, it was announced that the film will come out on March 22. However, according to recent developments, it will now release a week later. That is, March 29.
“In light of the prevalent situation and in support of Pakistani cinema, we have decided to release Project Ghazi on the 29th of March 2019,” states the official Facebook handle of the film.
It further reads, “We wish Sherdil and Laal Kabootar a successful flight and, all the best for the 22nd.”
Initially, Project Ghazi was supposed to release on the same day (March 22, 2019) as Azfar Jafri’s Sherdil and Kamal Khan’s debut feature Laal Kabootar that features Mansha Pasha and Ahmed Ali Akbar (in principal roles). This would have led to a strong clash at the local box office and would not have been fruitful for Pakistani cinema holistically and in present times given the ban on Bollywood films, it does feel like a smart move.
Directed by Nadir H. Shah and produced by Syed Mohammad Ali Raza, Project Ghazi features Humayun and Sheheryar as soldiers while Syra will be seen as a scientist in the film. In addition to the lead cast, the film will also have Talat Hussain and Adnan Jaffer (antagonist) in key roles.
