As producer of Teefa in Trouble, in addition to being its chief protagonist opposite Maya Ali, musician-turned-actor Ali Zafar must be having the last laugh.
By not releasing his film during the Eid season and releasing it on a non-holiday weekend - when no star-studded film within the same genre was releasing - last year on July 20, Teefa in Trouble, directed by Ahsan Rahim, was released, ensuring a strong box office fate.
With mostly strong reviews, it comes as no surprise that the film managed to do well at the box office. In fact, during its original run, the film collected Rs 34.5 crores in Pakistan and Rs 14 crores internationally and according to a statement those figures are on the rise.
Opening in cinemas today (Friday, February 22), the film is hoping to hit the number of Rs 50 crores at the box office.
Teefa in Trouble will be shown at Universal Cinemas and Cinestar in Lahore and Centaurus in Islamabad from Friday. If this teaches us anything, it’s that filmmakers need to release their films on non-holidays, which will ensure better figures at the box office. Of course, the film has to be mildly entertaining and Teefa in Trouble passes that standard with some flair.
