Veteran actress Reema Khan, who last appeared on the big screen in her second directorial effort, Love Mein Ghum in 2011, opened up about how a fellow actress tried to poison her in a recent interview. Reema Khan also spoke about harassment she has faced in the entertainment industry and revealed that a competing star bribed her journalist friends to write against her.
“There were numerous colleagues who gave me a very tough time. I was also subjected to character assassination,” shared the actress. “Once someone fired gunshots at my house; another time my colleague tried to poison me when I was doing a shampoo commercial with Asim Raza.”
Though Reema didn’t reveal the name, she went on to say, “The person was given 100,000 Rs. to poison me but God saved me. The concerned person had apologized so I never reported this incident to the police, as she was the sole breadwinner of her family. My fellow actress confessed that she felt jealous when people praised me in front of her.”
The star disclosed that she lost several projects due to fake scandals. “Media was different back then and fellow artists used their sources to spread rumours in the media circle. My scenes got cut from films and people decreased the number of songs because of professional jealousy. I was even involved in legal disputes for giving people ‘shut up calls’,” she said.
According to Reema Khan, she secured her place in the industry through sheer hard work and determination. “While I found all kinds of people who tried to bring me down, I also found sincere people who guided me so that I stay away from the inside politics,” she added.
