After playing anti-hero in drama serial Khasara last year, Mikaal Zulfiqar is gearing up for his upcoming play, tentatively titled Zard Bahar, alongside Sana Javed.

Talking about his character in the play, Mikaal told Instep, “I play the role of Captain Salman, a commercial airline pilot, who is madly in love with the character of Sana Javed. He is a romantic who goes out of his way just to impress her. The graph of the character that I play is quite interesting.”

Directed by seasoned actress Rubina Ashraf, the play is written by Naila Ansari and according to Mikaal Zulfiqar, it is a family drama that has a lot of twists and turns. “Actually the script is amazingly written; it is realistic and the audience will easily relate to the characters and will take something back from it,” he shared. “The story revolves around two family friends. My dad and Sana’s dad are also old business partners. The play highlights the complications in relationships, given that I am interested in Sana and her brother is interested in my sister. There is a dramatic moment in the play, which I can’t reveal, but this changes the entire scenario and makes everything complicated.”

On working with Rubina Ashraf, who is helming the play, Mikaal said that it is very interesting to work with her. “Because she is an actress herself, she knows exactly how an actor likes to be treated and she looks after her actors extremely well,” he added. “All I can say now is that it is a fantastic play with a great cast so I have my fingers crossed.”

Apart from Mikaal and Sana, the upcoming play has an all star cast including veterans like Usman Peerzada, Mohammad Ahmed, Seemi Raheel and Irsa Ghazal. Besides this project, the actor who had a cameo in Asim Abbasi’s Cake, will appear in Sherdil alongside Armeena Khan, which is slated to release later this year.
