In a brief conversation with Instep, the singer (and actor) talks about his chemistry with Call, and more.

Junaid Khan, having collaborated with Indian group Spunk last year as well as having acted in multiple TV serials is not looking to slow down in 2019 and Talash isn’t the only musical project that Junaid had been working on.

He has also been busy recording and performing with his band Call. “We are working on a lot of things,” he reveals. “We released the Peshawar Zalmi anthem for the Pakistan Super League and the song ‘Zindabad’. There are a couple of very exciting things coming up with Call that our fans can look forward to. We are aggressively focused on taking Call to the next level. We have brought a lot of improvement to the live setup. We want our live act to be the best. We continuously want to improve and set new standards when it comes to live music.”

The band members have clearly worked out their differences since their reunion and are more dedicated than ever to the group. “Xulfi, Sultan, and I love our chemistry. We love when we sit down together and make music. So I cherish Call and I cherish this bond that we three share. That’s what keeps us strong as we work towards more and more tracks.”

As for his debut solo album, that project has been shelved. “I’ve postponed the plans for my solo album. At the moment, as a musician, I am very focused on Call. Call is very much my first priority. I’ll focus on Call first and then I’m going to think about releasing my solo album.”

Acting and more

Besides music, Junaid has also been very busy with his blossoming acting career. His upcoming projects include a drama, which has been directed by Qasim Ali Mureed. “I’m playing a very twisted character, a character I’ve not done before.”

He has also worked on “a very exciting project” for Geo Entertainment. “It’s called Kam Zarf. The cast alongside me includes Nadia Khan and Rabab Hashim.”

Other than television dramas, he is also looking at film scripts and hoping to eventually star in a big screen venture as well.

If music and acting weren’t enough, Junaid has also been modelling for various brands. How does he juggle so many projects? “I love my work very much,” he enthuses. “And I am very aggressive when it comes to setting priorities. I take a lot of load on myself. I think that this is the right time. I have the energy that I can put into my work, express as much as I can in all the mediums that I have, be it modelling, acting, or singing. I want to express myself in every way, like I am doing. I am grateful that I have the backing that I need from my fans who constantly love my work and appreciate me and give me that courage to continue entertaining them and expressing myself.”
