Lahooti Melo, founded by The Sketches front-man Saif Samejo, in just three short years, has become one music, arts and cultural festival that shouldn’t be missed by anyone.
Scheduled to take place at Jamshoro, Sindh on February 9 and 10 of this year, it will continue to host a diverse line-up of artists, speakers. Among them is Hamza Akram Qawwal, The Sketches, Dhool music group, Mughal-e-Funk, Rachel Viccaji, Tajdar Zaidi (storyteller), Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Jami Mehmood, Kami Sid, writer and author Mohammed Hanif and many more.
The festival has, from the start, also played host to some of the richest folk music and some of those artists have gone on to feature in shows like Coke Studio. It remains a credible platform.
The fourth edition of Lahooti Live is an ode to women and will host several women speakers from various fields such as architects, journalists, lecturers and more.
In past years, Lahooti Melo has hosted artists such as Aaroh, Faraz Anwar, Khumariyaan, Rakae Jamil, Sounds of Kolachi, Arieb Azhar and many more.
The force behind the festival, Saif Samejo had a terrific run last year, appearing on Coke Studio (with an extended line-up) as The Sketches and a strong Lahooti Live season. The Sketches also contributed to the soundtrack of Cake, which was selected as Pakistan’s Oscar submission.
