Having made a strong appearance on Coke Studio 11, Jimmy Khan is doing great things still. After releasing the glorious, uber-catchy version of ‘Nikka Mota Bajra’ from his first live folk album titled Tich Button, Jimmy Khan has unveiled the second song from the album. Titled ‘Tich Buttona Di Jori’, the second song from the record is well, for one thing, an original track that is composed by Jimmy Khan with lyrics by Daniyal Malik of Beygairat Brigade.
According to Jimmy Khan, as he said on his Instagram account, “The song is an original urban/folk country tune. He added: “This was a collaboration we did more than two years ago and the band and I have been performing it live ever since. This is the second version we have recorded with the new Jimmy Khan line-up.”
The line-up Jimmy Khan is speaking of includes (apart from Jimmy of course) Joshua Amjad on dholak, Shane Kerr on bass guitars, Aziz Kazi on drums and percussion, Joshua Keyth Benjamin on harmonium, Shahab Hussain on ukulele, Chang as well as vocals and Zain Ahsan, who played guitars, ukulele and also produced and mixed the album.
As for the song, it is as remarkable as its preceding single, if not more. With this record, Jimmy Khan is making Punjabi folk with a new spin. Who knew a dash of country music could sound so beautiful in Punjabi? A big applause for Jimmy Khan, his line-up and Zain Ahsan (Poor Rich Boy) who is quietly proving that he is truly a fascinating producer. The sound of Jimmy Khan has changed with this record and that makes it all the more interesting.
