The first and second season of the show, which captures the lives of young individuals who leave their homeland to work/study abroad, garnered immense praise from South Asian viewers across the world. Written and directed by Suhrwardy brothers, who also star in it, Mangoes: A Slice of Life is an invigorating tale of millennials from diverse backgrounds and explores the true potential of this generation that is confidently looking up at the sky and is ready to fly.
Maha Warsi, who stars as the bold and beautiful Asha, shared about the project in a recent interview, “People are fascinated by the idea of studying or working abroad but the show highlights the struggles of those trying to survive there. And that has been portrayed in a very humorous way.”
Khurram Suhrwardy on the other hand noted during the same interview, “It is a story of ordinary people. Some of the incidents that are a part of the show, we have actually been through that. We are sure people can relate to it. Comedy is a great way to entertain viewers and convey a serious message at the same time.”
In 2017, the show was nominated for ‘Best Scriptwriting’ at the Leo Awards.
