Danish Taimoor, Ushna Shah, Sanam Chauhdry and Ali Abbas starrer Ru Baru Ishq Tha is one of the few dramas currently on air that is a far cry from saas-bahu sagas dominating television. Though ‘love’ remains its central theme, it’s the unique treatment that makes Ru Baru Ishq Tha different and therefore, an engaging watch.
The story begins with Almir (Danish) and Salwa (Ushna) – having fallen in love with each other – tying the knot but as things progress, right before Salwa’s rukhsati, Aayaan – essayed by Sanam Chauhdry – who’s also in love with Almir, accidentally kills Salwa’s father and the blame falls on Almir’s innocent brother. This leads to the couple divorcing.
Soon after, Aayaan’s brother Wahaj (Ali) manipulates Salwa’s family and marries her. He does all this to take revenge for his sister who lost the love of her life to Salwa. As Wahaj continues to make Salwa’s life miserable, Aayaan makes attempts to make Almir fall in love with her.
In the latest episode, Almir finds out that Aayaan, who is possibly a psychopath, killed Salwa’s father but was originally trying to murder him (Almir) out of sheer jealousy. He gives the truth away to everyone. However, before the police can arrest Aayaan, she commits suicide as she finds out that Almir hates her for what she has done to Salwa and him. Wahaj, on the other hand, feels guilty for mistreating Salwa due to his sister.
The teaser for the next episode shows that Wahaj will seek apology from Salwa. Whether she accepts it or chooses to part ways with him, we will have to wait and see.
