The annual Masala Awards are all set to take place in early December in Dubai. Over the years, the platform has opened doors to Pakistani and Indian talent with an aim to celebrate fashion and entertainment stars on both sides of the border.
This year is no exception; in fact, it has gotten all the more inclusive by adding three names from Pakistan on the jury. Pakistanis who have joined the judges’ panel this year are Shamira Mitha, PR guru who is the Founder & MD Verve Marketing & Communications and Gul Zeb Owais, the founder of Carnival, a multi-brand store with a strong focus on regional and Asian brands. And then there is Faraz Manan, former winner of Designer of the Year, who has been a favourite amongst Bollywood celebs such as Kareena Kapoor and the late Sridevi.
Last year the fashion categories like ‘Fashion Designer of the Year’ and ‘Most Fashionable Man/Woman of the Year’ were judged by Manish Malhotra.
Meanwhile, the Masala Awards give us some memorable moments, which we’re looking forward to. The platform has recognized and welcomed talent from Pakistan, including Mahira Khan, Saba Qamar, Mawra Hocane, Fawad Khan and others in previous years, making the show all the more interesting for us. Artists like Humaima Malick and Farhan Saeed have also performed at the ceremony in the past.
Celebrities from Pakistan who are going to attend the event this year haven’t been disclosed yet but our insiders tell us that it’s a list to look out for. We look forward to Pakistan’s presence at the show.
