The actress, in a recent interview, talks about her latest film Sui Dhaaga, her need to do films that speak to people on a different level and her upcoming film, Zero, with Shah Rukh Khan.

Anushka Sharma made her acting debut almost ten years ago with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan. During her career, the actress has played varied roles and has many unconventional films such as NH10, PK, Sultan, Phillauri, Pari and the most recent Sui Dhaaga to her credit. Anuskha Sharma will next be seen with SRK in Aanand L Rai’s much anticipated film Zero.

In a recent interview the actress talks to Indian Express about the need to do different roles and her upcoming film Zero.

Being in the industry for a decade and playing diverse roles that cannot be deemed as ‘safe roles,’ Anushka shared that she understands that her choices have always been unconventional.

“That’s how I am even as a person, I am quite unconventional, so is my thought process and my choice of work is a reflection of that,” she admits. “I always wanted to redefine myself with every film, that’s me, and that is my endeavor always. I just want to become someone else with every character that I play.”

She also said that whenever people see her on the screen, she wants to be seen in a different way. Speaking about her character Mamta in Sui Dhaaga, she said that if people only saw Mamta in it and not her, then it is a huge compliment.

The actress also confesses that she didn’t relate to her character Alizeh in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and that if Alizeh was her friend she would have slapped her and asked her to get some self-respect.

“But since I had to play Alizeh, I had to totally believe in her, and be her and embody her completely. The characters that I totally related to were of Band Baaja Baaraat and Sultan.”

On how is it working with Shah Rukh Khan once again in Zero, Anushka shared, “Your experience with a superstar like Shah Rukh doesn’t depend on you, it depends on his greatness and his graciousness,” adding that he has been so kind with her. Even in her first film he made her so comfortable and that it was up to him to make her feel comfortable or uncomfortable.

“He always made me feel comfortable and never intimidated me,” she informed. “He makes me feel so welcomed. He continues to do that all the time. I have always enjoyed working with him. He has a vast knowledge of too many things. I see his passion in Zero and I definitely think that he is doing something amazing with this film.”
