Saman Ansari is an incredible and diverse actor who we last saw in TV serials Khaani and Dar Si Jati Hai Sila, both of which turned out to be very successful. She played two completely contrasting characters in both the projects and even then she pulled them off really well. Presently, the actor is gearing up for her debut in the world of theatre with Khalid Ahmed’s play Jasoosi Duniya that will premiere on October 4 at NAPA.
Instep got in touch with the actor, who is currently busy with rehearsals for the play, to find out about the project as well as her role in it.
“This is my first experience with theatre,” she shared. “I have explored multiple mediums in my field; starting off from radio, I turned into an anchor and then worked in TV serials. I never thought I would do theatre though it always fascinated me. So, as soon as I got an opportunity I gave it a nod.”
She shared that the writer of Dar Si Jati Hai Sila, Bee Gul approached her with the offer while the play is an adaptation of an English play.
“Jasoosi Duniya is a murder mystery of sorts with a comic element to it,” she revealed about the play in which she has a key role. “It is fast-paced with a lot going on during the 2-hour long play.”
When asked how the role is different from the ones she has been doing on TV, she responded, “I am not playing mother to any grown up individual here (laughs).”
“Theatre is a lot more challenging than TV as it is very demanding physically as well as emotionally,” she continued. “I have been rehearsing for six weeks.”
