Since the return of Farooq Ahmed, vocalist of music group Aaroh (from the USA where he resides partially now), the music outfit is looking to get back in the music game.

Having returned as guest judge for Pepsi Battle of the Bands last year and again this year, Aaroh, the winning band of the first edition of the competition in 2002, has a lot in the pipeline.

As a band, Aaroh performed on both editions of Pepsi Battle of the Bands with ‘Ik Chah’ being their last performance and a decent one at that. In the last quarter of 2017, they also released a single titled ‘Main Nahin Manta’ based on Habib Jalib’s poetry.

Aaroh has now announced that it plans to release three new singles in the year 2018. The band in its present avatar also includes Khalid Khan, Jason Anthony and Asad ul Hafeez, in addition to Farooq Ahmed.

As for what the music will be like, given their past records, Sawal and Raag Neela, Farooq told Instep in a recent interview: “Aaroh has an opinion and a voice that we do not want to compromise on.”

What that will mean for their music, the next three songs will determine. Nonetheless for Aaroh fans as well as a new generation of fans they could attract with new material, this is good news.
