Talal Qureshi announces new album, dedicated to late mother

Talal Qureshi, music producer, rapper/singer and one half of music group SNKM (with Adil Omar), has been busy. Just last month, Talal collaborated with Red Bull Pakistan for the rambunctious anthem, ‘Aag’ featuring the legendary singer Naseebo Lal.

Lal has never sounded quite like this before and it is a song that shows the ambition both artists possess. It is a showcase that Qureshi can work with traditional artists and create something unpredictable and with swag.

And the song, released last month, has come just after a six track EP from Qureshi in his musical alter ego, Neon Yousaf. He has also contributed to Adil Omar’s film + album Transcendence and is in no mood to slow down musically.

Having been a part of Mad Decent Block Party in Pakistan in 2018 with Adil Omar as SNKM as well as curating local artists for the MDBP, Talal took to twitter and noted that he has an instrumental album in the pipeline, dedicated to his late mother.

“I’ve written an entire album of instrumentals expressing what I went through these past 2 years; I was in denial of accepting that I was depressed due to the loss of my mother. I will release the entire project this month, thank you for supporting my music, I love all of you!”

Former Patari CEO, Ahmer Naqvi, while writing about the song on social media noted, “This song was meant to be the showcase of probably the most ambitious and exciting Patari project we would have ever done. Calling it fire is underselling it. Naseebo destroys entire galaxies with this.”

So, while people continue to harp on about lack of original music, you only have to look at Talal’s yearly repertoire or just ‘Aag’ to know otherwise.
