The upcoming sequel of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani features two veteran Indian actors and the news came as a pleasant surprise, considering how big of a deal it is. However, there is even greater news than this which would have benefited the film in more ways than one.

In a recent interview, writer of the film Vasay Chaudhry informed that JPNA2 was supposed to feature Sonam Kapoor and they had approached the actor during their visit to India in 2016. She was supposed to play the role which was then offered to Kubra Khan who stars opposite Humayun Saeed in the film.

“We spoke to Sonam Kapoor for a role in the film but it didn’t materialize,” he revealed.Uri attacks took place three weeks after their visit to India after which Pakistani artists were banned from working in India.

“The original plan was to shoot this film in India and we even went to Mumbai and did our recce,” Vasay added. “It was the time when the news of Rishi Kapoor featuring in the film circulated all across and that was true. We also met Anupam Kher back then. While I was really apprehensive of having him onboard given that his wife (Kirron Kher) was a BJP MLA, he was really kind to us and even called us to his office. He was interested in doing the film but he had to pull out of it due to some unfavorable circumstances between the two nations.”

Vasay also admitted that it was a huge setback for them that they couldn’t shoot the film in India because they wanted it to be shot there and add a unique angle to the film that the viewers would have loved to see.

JPNA2 is scheduled to release on Eid-ul-Azha and features a star cast including Fahad Mustafa, Mawra Hocane, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmed Ali Butt, Omer Shahzad, Sarwat Gilani and Uzma Khan aside from Humayun Saeed and Kubra Khan.
