Writer-producer Asma Nabeel is certainly on a roll. After writing the script for the recently concluded critically and commercially acclaimed social drama Khaani, followed by Baandi that is soon to go on air, the writer has another feather in her cap. She has penned the lyrics for a song featured in an upcoming Bollywood film, titled Helicopter Eela, which stars Kajol in the titular role.
The film’s recently released trailer features a few lines from the song, ‘Tu gaya tou ruki saari sansain... mar bhi jayain tou ab nahi koi gham’, written by Asma.
“I am very excited; it’s a new milestone for me,” Asma told Instep.
Reflecting on the collaboration, she shared, “I have always liked the work of director Pradeep Sarkar who has directed films like Parineeta and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag. I got a chance to work with him for some TV commercials. He was fascinated by our Urdu language so we used to have discussions on it. That’s where our relationship began and the discussion has finally materialized in the form of this song. I am really honoured to have written a song for this film that stars Kajol who is one of my favourite actresses. The film looks good too and the song complements the situation. I hope people like it when its complete version comes out.”
Helicopter Eela follows the story of an aspiring singer and single mother essayed by Kajol who re-joins college to complete her education along with her grown-up son. The film is scheduled to release on September 7, this year.
