Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, a real life celebrity couple are all set to appear in a film called Gulab Jamun after eight long years. The couple was last seen in 2010’s Raavan, in which Abhishek essayed the role of a bandit leader who kidnapped Aishwarya Rai, the wife of a policeman, but later falls for her.
However, it was in films like Umrao Jaan (2006) and Guru (2007), that they performed remarkably well while also sharing great on-screen chemistry.
“AB [Abhishek] and I have agreed to do Gulab Jamun. I told AB that he needs to decide what he wants to do after Manmarziyaan,” Aishwarya told in an interview to Mid-Day.
The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil star also said that they had been offered the film one and a half years ago and they had agreed on it back then. “We had agreed on the idea then. However, it was around the same time that AB decided to take time out.”
She added, “After the hiatus, he returned with Manmarziyaan, which coincidentally is directed by Anurag Kashyap. That’s when the chatter around Gulab Jamun began again, and we finally came on board. It is a beautiful script, and we fit the narrative perfectly.”
According to Aishwarya, the content of the film is what made them sign it. She explained that if a real life couple comes on board, then the script of the film has to be that exciting otherwise, it doesn’t make sense.
We certainly can’t wait to see one of the most popular Bollywood couples, Abhi-Ash to share the screen after such a long gap.
On the work front, Aishwarya is all geared up for her upcoming film Fanney Khan alongside Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Divya Dutta that is scheduled to release on August 3. Abhishek Bachchan, on the other hand, will next be seen in Manmarziyaan, which stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal and is slated to release on September 14.
