After multiple screenings at various international film festivals and winning several awards in different categories, Pakistani film Gumm, featuring Sami Khan, Shamoon Abbasi and Shameen Khan, has bagged two awards at the recently concluded Madrid International Film Festival that accepts entries from all over the world.
Written and directed by Ammar Lasani and Kanza Zia, graduates of the New York Film Academy, the film, which was nominated in four categories, won Best Original Screenplay of a Feature Film while the award for Best Actor in a Foreign Language Feature Film went to Sami Khan.
The makers of the action thriller also unveiled the official poster of the film at the festival, which aims at celebrating filmmaking through live screenings and awards ceremony, and provides a real platform for filmmakers to meet and network during the festival week.
Though Gumm has not released in Pakistan yet, it has been officially selected at various international film festivals including AAB International Film Festival (India), CKF International Film Festival (UK), Creation International Film Festival (Canada), Festigious International Film Festival (Los Angeles, USA), London City International Film Festival (UK), Lake View International Film Festival (India), Eurasia International Film Festival (Moscow, Russia) and the most recent being the Madrid Asia International Film Festival (Spain).
Produced by Shakeel Anjum, the film is scheduled to release across Pakistan later this year.
