After enthralling audiences across the country with some critically and commercially acclaimed theatre productions in the past, the dynamic duo of the legendary Anwar Maqsood and director Dawar Mehmood joins forces yet again, for another upcoming play.
Tilted Kyun Nikala, the upcoming production is “a tale of a Bengali cook,” according to Dawar, who refrained from revealing too much about it at the moment. However, we know that there is always a political backdrop to his plays and this one is no exception, as the name suggests. A Kopykats presentation, it marks Anwar Maqsood’s return as a writer after a gap of three years, while it is being produced by Epsilon.
The upcoming play also marks the writer-director duo’s reunion after a couple of years. While their earlier collaborations include plays like Pawnay 14 August, Sawa 14 August, Aangan Terha and Siachen, the last two plays that Dawar directed (Bananistan and Hua Kuch Yoon) weren’t written by Anwar sahab.
Kyun Nikala will premiere at the Karachi Arts Council on August 14 and will run till September 15, before it heads to other cities. The Lahore run will take place from October 1 till October 15 while it will be performed in Islamabad from October 25 till November 15.
