The Eid season usually ushers in a number of movie releases and this time around there are four films that are slated to hit cinemas. They include Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar- starrer 7 Din Mohabbat In, Jawed Sheikh’s Wajood, Azaadi featuring Moammar Rana and Na Band Na Barati.
While we are all geared up for the movies to release, on the TV front there are multiple telefilms that will air on different channels during the festive occasion and will feature some of our veteran actors like Marina Khan, Mohammad Ahmed, Faysal Qureshi and Saba Qamar among others.
Read on as Instep gives you a lowdown on the 6 must-watch telefilms...
Dino Ki Dulhaniya
One telefilm to look forward to this Eid is Mehreen Jabbar’s Dino Ki Dulhaniya that stars the most liked onscreen couple these days, namely Feroze Khan and Sana Javed in key roles. The project marks Mehreen Jabbar’s return to television after a small gap. By the looks of it, the story is of a couple who fall in love with each other after marriage. However, things take a turn when the wife tries to reveal a hidden truth to her husband. Even though, she is honest about the whole thing, the husband is unable to trust her again.
Penned by Dr. Muhammad Younis Butt, Dino Ki Dulhaniya stars Shamim Hilaly and Ali Ansari in important roles apart from Sana and Feroze. The telefilm will go on air on the first day of Eid on Geo TV.
Hum Chalay Aye
Mehreen Jabbar’s Hum Chalay Aye will be her second project to appear this Eid. Written by Mohammad Ahmad, Hum Chalay Aye features Madiha Imam, Furqan Qureshi and Ahmad Zeb in lead roles alongside veteran actors Marina Khan, Hina Dilpazeer, Arjumand Azhar and others. As the name suggests, the telefilm is a beautiful story of a family and the unique dynamic they share. This telefilm will also air on Geo TV. So, don’t forget to watch it!
Naiki Kar Doob Marr
Featuring actors Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed in pivotal roles, Naiki Kar Doob Marr is a comedy telefilm. “It’s a pure comedy that will be fun to watch,” Zahid Ahmed informed Instep earlier.
The actor further went on to say that he was tempted to accept the offer because of two major reasons – the first reason was sharing the screen with Saba Qamar and the other one was the humorous script.
Naiki Kar Doob Marr is directed by Fahim Burney, while it is written by Atiq Inayat. As far as the story is concerned, “it’s a love story of a young couple,” informed Zahid. “It is targeted towards young people who aren’t willing to compromise in relationships. Getting into a relationship is easier but maintaining it is difficult.”
Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo
Seems like this telefilm’s title, Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo, has been inspired by the famous Aurat March that was held earlier this year in multiple cities of Pakistan.
Directed and produced by Kashif Saleem, the play has been written by Faiza Iftikhar and features Aiman Khan, Affan Waheed, Nadia Khan and Saleem Mairaj.
“The story line is quite interesting as it defies the idea of staunch feminism,” Affan Waheed told Instep. “This telefilm doesn’t address gender inequality but in fact tackles the issue of inequality in general.”
Regarding the message that the telefilm aims to put across, Affan said, “It’s light-hearted, practical as well as witty and Faiza Iftikhar has written it in a way that will surely leave an impact on the audience.”
Band Toh Baje Ga
Directed by Misbah Khalid and written by Ali Moeen, Band Toh Baje Ga features the multi-talented artist Yasir Hussain who will share the screen with Hania Aamir, Zainab Qayyum, Nazli Nasr and Noman Masood.
“It is a fun telefilm,” Yasir Hussain told Instep in a recent interview. “I am playing the character of a guy who moves to the city from a village and after a period of time adjusts to the modern way of living. However, this guy’s parents are really paindu.”
According to the artist, the plot revolves around how the two characters, who come from different backgrounds, meet and what conflicts emerge between them. We will have to wait and watch how things take a turn for the two.
Hum 2 Hamare 100
Another telefilm that promises to be entertaining is Hum 2 Hamare 100, which is “a story of a channel owner who is scared of his wife,” Faysal Qureshi told Instep. “I essay the character of Imran Malik in this comedy telefilm.”
Besides Faysal, Hum 2 Hamare 100 stars Hira Mani, Nausheen Shah, Aijaz Aslam and Maham Amir in key roles. “It is directed by Najaf Bilgrami and is written by Dr Younis Butt. I can’t reveal much as yet, but it is going to be a fun watch,” Faysal said.
