A few days ago, it was reported that Sajal Aly and Hamza Ali Abbasi have paired up for an upcoming TV play; however, nothing concrete was announced on the subject. We recently got in touch with Sana Shahnawaz, who is co-producing the project with Samina Humayun Saeed, to find out more about it.
“It’s called Alif and it features Sajal Aly, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Kubra Khan in pivotal roles,” Sana confirmed to Instep in a telephonic conversation. “Every character in the play questions themselves on something and being the first alphabet, ‘alif’ is the answer to every question. The drama is about soul searching; it’s a passion project. It’s a beautiful script written by Umera Ahmed, who last wrote Zindagi Gulzar Hai in 2012.”
Sana also informed that Alif has an all-star cast as well as some surprising guest appearances that are yet to be revealed. The drama is being directed by Haseeb Hassan of Mann Mayal fame while the shooting is expected to begin from June 19.
Alif will see Sajal and Hamza sharing the screen space for the first time while it also marks Hamza’s return to TV serials after Mann Mayal. Alif is expected to go on air sometime in September or October this year.
